Nilanjana has been pouring tea in the same corner of Old Dhaka for 62 years. Everyone in the neighborhood knows it — but the shopfront never said so. Faded signage, mismatched packaging, and a name that only regulars could place from a distance.
The Challenge
The shop didn’t need reinventing — it needed to look like what it already was. The owner, Afzal Hossain, was clear from the first meeting: nothing flashy, nothing that would feel out of place next to the old wooden benches and steel kettles that had been there for decades.
The Approach
The new mark borrows the hand-painted signage style still visible on a few shopfronts nearby, redrawn with cleaner lines so it holds up small on a tea packet or large on a shop awning. The palette leans on the warm brown of steeped tea and a muted green, printed on uncoated stock that ages the way the shop itself has.
The shop hasn’t changed — it’s just recognizable from a distance now.— Afzal Hossain, Owner
The Result
Packaging, signage, and delivery bags now share one consistent mark for the first time in the shop’s history. Regulars say it still feels like the same place — which was always the point.
